The Company
This NSW Government department plays a key role in delivering essential services across the state and is currently seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to oversee day-to-day operations and support transactional finance functions in an initial 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension.

To be successful in this role, you will bring prior experience working within a large, complex corporate environment. The role is based in Parramatta and offers hybrid working arrangements.


The Job
Reporting into the Finance Manager in this Senior Finance Officer role, you will be responsible for:
  • Prepare and review journals, accruals, provisions and general ledger adjustments.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
  • Raise Purchase Orders, process invoices, and manage goods receipting and payments.
  • Maintain accurate vendor, customer and financial records across internal systems.
  • Coordinate payments, including property settlements, ensuring compliance with delegations and deadlines.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank transactions, P-Card activity, Purchase Orders and aged debtors.
  • Support audits, compliance activities, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, Shared Services and central agencies to support day-to-day finance operations.

You
To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the following:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar Senior Finance role.
  • Previous experience working in a large, complex corporate environment, ideally within professional or financial services.
  • Strong work ethic with a genuine interest in building a career within the public sector.
  • Experience using SAP ERP will be highly regarded.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
