The Role
As a Collections Officer, you’ll manage a portfolio of aged debt (120+ days), focusing on recovering overdue consumer and commercial accounts. Reporting to the Team Leader, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Proactively conducting skip tracing and investigative work to locate customers and accelerate recovery outcomes.
  • Negotiating sustainable payment arrangements with empathy and professionalism.
  • Managing high risk and delinquent accounts while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Analysing account data to identify escalation points and recommend next steps.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to deliver fair and effective solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a target-driven environment, enjoys investigative work, and is confident navigating complex recovery scenarios.

About You
You’ll bring a sharp eye for detail, persistence, and a results driven mindset. To succeed, you’ll need:
  • Proven experience in collections, skip tracing, or debt recovery (experience working with debt 120+ day overdue from either a mercantile or contingent environment is ideal).
  • A naturally curious nature to source customers who have moved, changed numbers are are deliberately avoiding contact.  The platforms you will use include credit bureau data, electrol rolls, PPSR, social media for location clues, employer records, utility connections and vehicle registrations. 
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, balancing firmness with empathy to educate customers on future payment obligations.
  • A commercial mindset knowing when to escalate to the enforcement team for legal repossession. 
  • Exceptional attention to to detail to maintain accurate and compliant account records.
  • A solid understanding of the NCCP Act, ACC / ASIC guidelines, Privacy Act 1988, ASIC and hardship provisions.
  • High levels of integrity, resilience, and reliability.
  • A team mindset with the ability to work independently when required.
