The Company
Our client is a well-regarded government organisation committed to delivering engaging services and fostering community involvement across New South Wales. They are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Media and Communications Officer to join their dynamic team.

This is a hybrid role based in the Sydney CBD, with the expectation that the successful candidate will travel to various office locations, including the Blue Mountains and Mount Annan. A valid driver’s licence is essential.

This contract position is available for an immediate start and will run through to May 2026. 

   
The Job
Reporting into the Communications Manager, in this exciting Media contract, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver clear, engaging communications in collaboration with Content and Marketing teams.
• Create media stories that highlight science, horticulture, education, and tourism initiatives.
• Build media relationships and secure positive coverage to meet PR targets.
• Produce accurate, accessible content for technical and general audiences.
• Coordinate campaigns and content to support public engagement and business goals.
• Advise on communication strategies and manage sensitive media issues.

• 2-4 years in media relations, PR, and journalism across traditional and digital platforms.
• Skilled in issues management and producing compelling multimedia content.
• Performs well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
• Excellent stakeholder management and able to simplify complex information.
• Holds a current Australian driver’s licence.
• Genuine interest in nature, science communication, and environmental education.
