The Job
As their Legal Recoveries Officer, you will be responsible for managing the legal recovery process for defaulted accounts, ensuring efficient debt recovery while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. Reporting through to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Managing legal recovery files from initiation through to completion or settlement
- Liaising with external legal firms, solicitors and debt collection agencies to progress matters
- Conducting asset tracing and valuation assessments to determine optimal recovery strategies
- Preparing legal documentation including letters of demand, statutory notices and court documents
- Monitoring legal proceedings and ensuring compliance with court orders and timeframes
- Negotiating settlement arrangements and payment plans with debtors and their representatives
- Maintaining detailed case notes and ensuring all actions comply with industry regulations and internal policies
- Coordinating asset repossession activities and managing the disposal process
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes
- Working closely with credit management and customer service teams to coordinate recovery strategies
You
To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the following areas and possess the below personal qualities:
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience working in legal recoveries within the financial services sector (preferably asset finance)
- Strong understanding of debt recovery processes and legal procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong negotiation abilities
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Experience liaising with legal firms and external agencies
- Knowledge of privacy legislation, compliance requirements and industry codes of practice
