Financial Accountant

The role:
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager your role will include:

• Supporting project delivery including system upgrades and software replacement across the finance, reporting and analytics streams.
• Preparing complete, accurate, and timely statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate timely year-end external audits.
• Preparing reports on audit-related matters for management and stakeholders, providing actionable insights.
• Assisting in the preparation of regulatory reporting, GST returns, and other tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Applying technical knowledge in financial reporting and assurance to assist in the preparation of advice papers on complex accounting issues.
• Prepare reconciliations of key balances including analysis and resolution of reconciling items.
• Analyse and resolve issues in source systems that impact finance processes.
• Preparation of month-end accounting journals.
• Ownership of accounts payable processes and controls.
• Building strong relationships with cross-functional teams, such as Operations, Data, Treasury, and Sales.
• Handling large volumes of data and complex transactions across multiple systems.
• Identifying process improvements to increase efficiency.

• A finance related degree together with CA or CPA qualification.
• At least four years’ experience in financial services with previous experience in asset finance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian financial statement reporting and accounting standards.
• Track record of working with financial data, preparing journals, reconciliations, and the preparation of accounting records and financial statements.
• Experience working on a transformational business system implementation using Odessa Platform, MYOB Enterprise (Accumatica) and Power BI (including visualisation dashboards) combined with advanced Excel.
