The Job
   
As their Early Arrears Collections Officer, you will be the first point of contact for customers who have fallen behind on their payments, focusing on early intervention to prevent further delinquency while maintaining positive customer relationships. Reporting through to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following duties:  

  • Proactively contacting customers in early arrears (typically 1-30 days overdue)
  • Conducting empathetic yet assertive conversations to understand reasons for missed payments
  • Negotiating immediate payment arrangements and short-term payment plans to bring accounts current
  • Identifying customers experiencing financial difficulty and referring them to appropriate hardship channels
  • Maintaining detailed contact records and payment commitments in the collections system
  • Following up on broken payment promises and escalating accounts as per company policy
  • Working collaboratively with customer service and credit teams to resolve account issues
  • Meeting individual and team collection targets and KPIs
  
This is a full-time permanent position based in their modern Sydney CBD office.
   
   
You
   
To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the following areas and possess the below personal qualities:  
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in collections, customer service, or credit management within the financial services sector (preferably asset finance)
  • Strong telephone manner with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations while maintaining professionalism and empathy
  • Results-driven approach with experience meeting collection targets and KPIs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation, compliance requirements, and industry codes of practice
