The Company….
A large and rapidly growing Queensland Government organisation is seeking an experienced Project Engagement Officer to support its project team through effective stakeholder engagement, proactive communications planning, and the timely delivery of high-quality materials.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills and experience working in a project environment, ideally within government or a large, complex organisation.

This is an initial 2-year contract, with the option to extend for a further 12 months. The role is based in Townsville.


The Job…..
Reporting to the Project Manager in this versatile Project Engagement Officer role, you will be responsible for:
  • Develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies for  infrastructure projects.
  • Research, write, and coordinate communication materials, including public notices, community updates, and media responses.
  • Provide advice on issues management, risk assessment, and managing complex or sensitive communication matters.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, track timeframes, and align engagement activities with project milestones and governance requirements.
  • Undertake administrative and coordination tasks, including reporting, document management, and event coordination.

To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the following:
  • At least 2 years-experience in a strong project support capacity.
  • Previous stakeholder engagement and public sector experience with an infrastructure focus will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks to meet strict deadlines.
  • Understanding of Record Keeping and Document Control systems is highly beneficial.
